Where do I start? I feel like I maybe should have done some more living when it comes to the task of writing a quick biography. That is not to say that I've lived a completely sheltered, lackluster life, just that at this point in my life I thought there would be more.
That last sentence is an incredibly pathetic one and I think far too many of us in this stage of life utter/write it. So I'm going to go back to the trite basics:
BORN (yes I am): Chicago
EDUCATION: Yes (but I believe that we never stop learning)
OCCUPATION: I teach high school English (No, I will not correct your comments should you choose to leave some [laughs])
HOBBIES: They are pretty much listed above. I like to do a variety of activities, but I am pretty much a solitary person. I got into writing fanfiction this past spring (Well, to be honest, I did write a really goofy play/spoof that was inspired by Star Wars as a kid, and in college I was able to negotiate a script for an assignment in my Science Fiction elective, so I am not a novice at the genre, just rusty.), and I have been working on a piece I call Reunion, a story based off of the movie D.E.B.S. Quite a few people have told me they like it, and if I was more adept at this computer thing, I'd post a link that would take you over to where it is post. It is located in the All Things DEBS page on ezboard under the Lucy/Amy section. If you feel like checking it out, please leave me a comment telling me your thoughts and reactions. Anyway, this fic I'm working on was supposed to be a short quick onetwothree punch sort of thing that has grown into a large trainwreck because my muse keeps battering my senses all about. If you do go to ATD, make sure to check out the other awesome fics. There is some amazingly good talent on that community.
A word of caution: Updates to this thing will probably be rare. I tend to do other writing projects first.
PHILOSOPHY: I'm very much in the take what you can use and move on school. I am slow to friendship and love, but once a person is in, that's it. I was reared and am still a practicing Presbyterian. I know being a Christian isn't the most popular thing to be in this day and age thanks to the zealots who have hijacked Jesus' teachings to suit their political ambitions, but it is a huge part of who I am and how I see and relate to things. I also like the eastern philosophies as well. I feel that if people would just mind their own business and concentrate a little more on themselves in a true spiritual sense instead of the materialistic sense we've all been spoonfed by our corporate owned and governed media, we'd have more happiness in the world, more real self actualization.
PERSONALITY: My personality is pretty much akin to my philosophy. I've been described as cute, easygoing, likable, funny, charming, smart, stubborn, strong, focused, determined, giving, charming, smart, responsible, serious, sensitive, eclectic, fun, quiet, passionate, alluring...(friends who read this: have I left anything out?) I am all those things and more (and I don't mean that in a conceited sense). I know as a human being, I possess many flaws and strengths which fluctuate over time, change, and grow. I believe that we are constantly evolving into what we are supposed to be. I guess a final quality to state about myself is besr illustrated in my favorite movie, Casablanca. The closing scene when Rick let's Ilsa go. I believe he did it because he loved her. I do that as well and have done so. I'd rather be with a person for the right reasons. (That's a line from Some Kind of Wonderful) I have lived my life by that code and as far as I know, it hasn't failed me. I will step back into the shadows quietly instead of fighting. I'm an idealist that way. In fact, I'm an idealist in a lot of ways (and I'm always getting beat up over it). I couldn't do my job if I was a cynic and i do my job to the best of my abilities and I make mistakes, boy do I make mistakes, my students never fail to notify me of a mistake. [laughs]
I like to laugh and share experiences. I also like to be alone. (This is the part when I tell people about me where they think: No, she doesn't REALLY like to be alone, no one LIKES to be alone.) So to be clear: I LIKE TO BE ALONE. There is a difference between alone and lonely. People often get those two terms confused. Sometimes is is good, no it is necessary for one to be alone; solitude can be your best friend. I am quite capable of entertaining myself, just ask my muse she'll tell you (tho she'll also tell you I'm her bitch....)
INTERESTING FACTS: I have canoed in the Quetico Provincial Park in Canada and I could survive in the woods quite well if I had to. I grew up in a singlefunctioning parent family. I survived a head-on collision with a truck several sizes larger than the Honda CV I was driving at the time. From said collison I endured 7 fractures (My father nicknamed me the Fracture Queen). I am the proud owner (or does he own me?) of a manx cat, Merlyn.
